Laura Ashley Hotel

LAURA ASHLEY HOTEL

Lake windermere

I just simply had to do a post about this gem in the lake district. It was only renovated last July so it still has this new shiny feel about it.  When I was originally looking at hotels  It took me around a good six hours to actually find a nice place that offered breakfast that I liked, In the end I opted for the reviews on trip advisor which lead me to believe this place was exactly what I wanted, and it turned out to be better.  Unfortunately for john who was happy with any hotel, I was more picky. I like to be organised so I looked at location, costs, reviews etc You may call it boring I call it being prepared.

This isn't a hotel if you are on a budget and visiting the lake district. We stayed two nights and it was about £500 easy. Worth every penny in my eyes as it was gorgeous.

The laura ashley hotel is beautiful, It is a little bit of the old mixed in with the new. So you have the original Belsfield building, yet the reception is completely glass so you walk through and can see out to the lake.

Photo from their website
Really quite something, no? Last time I stayed at Lake District it was on a lodge next to a river, it was still nice and homey just not as chic as this weekend getaway turned out to be.
We ended up having two rooms on our stay here (Lucky us) , The first was a normal double with lake view, Then we got the four poster suite thanks to an issue we had. Here as some snaps from the lobby/drawing rooms and bar areas.

The hotel itself has two resultants one bistro, the other a more posh a la carte menu restaurant.

Another great thing about this place is that every single room of the 160 rooms they offer is all Laura Ashley decorated. Also means that no two rooms are the same. I love that, I love that every detail has been thought of. The first room we stayed in was beautiful lovely colour schemes and lights, I would adore my room with that wallpaper it was perfect if you like stylish, but liveable comfy.

THE ROOMS

The second room seemed to be more 'grown up' a lot more dark wood, with a lot of lighting we counted six lamps in one room a little overboard but I like it.

The double wardrobe

The large bathroom

The best bath ever, and space to put the champagne glasses. One had to think of these things.

This is a short post due to time. I do highly recommend this hotel however.

For a lovely weekend getaway. You will no doubt had to check out this place.

The Belfield Restaurant

So my long weekend trip to Lake district was just amazing, The food was just …drool simply incredible. The company was good, the trips where fun and it was all round crazy good. I want to go again.I will do separate posts, for the hotels and days and what I did during them. To make it more readable for all you, and not to bombard you. So I will start of with the first 'date night'

Me and John decided on the evening menu, keep in mind this hotel has two restaurants which caters for different tastes. it has a bistro and then the main restaurant which we ate in. We booked for 8.30pm and settled for five courses each, so glad we did!

Doesn't the food sound gorgeous? It was, This turned out to be one of the best dates to date.

THE FOOD

First course

I am gutted, I didn't have my phone out to take pictures. It was this mushroom foam, Which was fantastic. Little hard to explain however it was in a little dish but very tasty. I have never had anything quite like it, Tasted like a strong mushroom risotto. We didn't get told what this was on the menu so we waited until we got the food. Nice surprise!

Second course

I had the queen scallops starter, Bury black pudding ( Yummy!) cauliflower puree and crispy bacon
I like to think my starter was better than johns, he is biased but mine was mouthwateringly good.

See, proof it was good.

John decided on Carpaccio (raw) of yellow fin tuna loin, nicoise salad and classic vinaigrette.

We are one of these couples that share food, no matter if we are at a 5 star restaurant we will sneak each other a mouthful of each others food. We have to rate it, right?  If your partner doesn't share, you need to have serious words. So this dish was great, healthier than mine. Still very nice, the tuna was a strange texture, still very enjoyable.

THIRD COURSE

Just a simply, sweet lemon sorbet. To 'cleanse the palate '

FOURTH COURSE

Or the best course, the most delicious in my eyes. I had to go for the fillet of cumbrian beef, fondant potato, carrot puree, porting broccoli and tarragon jus. Just simply incredible.
The best beef I have ever had in a restaurant, Well done to the chef!

John had his favourite lakeland lamb rump, peas and pancetta, braised baby gem, parsley potatoes and wild garlic emulsion. I don't actually eat lamb so I wouldn't be able to tell you if it was good, john devoured the whole thing, so that was a good sign.

LAST COURSE

The sweet course, I was going to pick the poached pear however with john taking that option up I picked the chocolate fondant, mmhm who doesn't love chocolate.

I love the presentation of all the dishes we had, really every dish had so much detail.

My fondant, with honeycomb and cremoux

I did prefer johns pudding, I was too busy stealing bits of it that I didn't take a picture. So food overall was 5/5 really WOW, I cant say much more. If you ever came across the lake district you need to go here.

THE DECO

This is turning out to be a very long post, It was a classy sophisticated restaurant, The whole room was Laura Ashley of course, from the curtains down to the lights.

SOME SNAPS FROM DINNER

Me and John

John looking rather smart, handsome man.

Me, ready to order!

AFTER DINNER

All the courses did take a few hours, which meant because we have travelled the majority of the day we ended up being so tired, We decided to go to the bar to get ourselves a cocktail, or whisky in johns case.

The bar was lovely, it had this very vintage vibe about it, with the wall art and lights.

After the bar, we headed in to the one of the 'many' drawing rooms, and it was huge like really big. It was late so we where the only ones in here. And it was just lovely, candles everywhere. So romantic. After john mucked around with the lift (old fashioned ) It was bed time! and I was more than ready to sleep.

Hope you enjoyed reading about it all!

PRIMARK HAUL - APRIL

Primark haul

I need to blog my hauls, I buy a lot every month I just never post about it. It is a shame, I love reading all your posts on your recent hauls however it does make me want to run into town and spend money.  This was a small spree just for some little bits for my trip away.

Blue flower top £4.00

Now that is it getting hotter, the summery clothes are coming out. Gorgeous light, stroppy tops are going to be so popular. It is so feminine and girly and a bargain at £4.00. Will look great with white jeans or just plain leggings.

Bra set £7.50

The majority of my clothes are grey, so this fits in well. A fantastic fit, got to be said primark underwear fits a lot better than La Sensa on me, and they are such good value you will never run out of matching sets!

NEW LOOK ( oops how did they get in here )
£5.00

I love the ray bans look, but I needed something cheaper for when I go out for walking and hikes. I lose so many pairs of sunnies every year. I have no idea where they go!!

Plain black vest  £2.50

Great value, for just a every day normal item. You can literally live in these tops.

£7.00

One of my favourites skirts at the moment, Gorgeous style, very floaty really comfy.
Pair is with a simply black top and tan heels, outfit sorted.

£7.00

A top I really did not need, washed it once and it completely lost the style which is a shame. If you like bagging loose, slogan tops this would be prefect for you.

Nice shorts
£3.50

The most comfy shorts ever, part of my 'comfy' collection. Again a con with buying from primark they do drop the shape, but you're wearing them to bed what can you expect!

£4.00

Going out bag.

The thing that really caught with was the detail on the side of the bag, The gold pattern. Which was just gorgeous, It is an absolute steal for only £4.00 I tend to go to Oasis and spend over £20 easy on a going out bag.

£1.00

This was great, I don't normally pick up random bits of makeup from clothes shops. This was a steal. It is from the Kelly brook range, and it is same shade as benefit hoola bronzer. GREAT FIND!

£6.00

Great summer shoes, Lovely tan colour. This will look fantastic if you have tanned legs! (so not me) Just for casual wearing around.
